Dr. Cranquis' Mumbled Gripes

I'm an American physician who works in an Urgent Care clinic. I see lots of stupid or funny things that people do with-and-to their health. I cope by mumbling under my breath (and then posting about it on this pseudonymous blog). Thought you might be interested.

I found a positive side to this new EMR system!

I can now draw pictures into the medical record, using a kinda MS-Paint window to depict wounds or rashes or whatever. That’s cool and all, but what makes this EXTRA-SPECIAL is that my back-office coder has to look at all of the pictures I draw as she reviews the chart… and she is (apparently) super-queasy about visual depictions of gross stuff.

I drew her the most lovely detailed rendering of a draining buttock abscess just now. In 3 colors.
